7 December 1907 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 7th [December 1907]. Today Cecil was buried at Peterboro’. I did not go down to the funeral—as I am not well eno’ being very lame & having also an old fashioned dislike to such things—& the idea that women are out of place. When the others returned from it they told me it was most impressive & the greatest respect & sympathy was shown by all classes. Kate & her family remain some days at Peterboro’. The Wylds returned to town & stay with me.
