22 March 1908 — En route to Venice
Sunday. 22nd [March 1908]. Reached Milan at 12– Baker quickly reregistered the luggage & we reached Venice punctually at 4.50. Pasquale met us at the station & I was here at Ca’ Capello at 5 & had tea– Sent round to Sra Malagola to say I had arrived & to tell her to come & see me as just before leaving London I had received a sad letter from her saying she had family troubles– We discussed them & she sent her son Guido to me in the evening to tell me abt tapestries he wants to sell in order to have a commission on them to help his future career. I telephoned to Sister Chaffey to come & see me tomorrow—much to her surprise as she did [not] know I was arriving & went early to bed.
