16 September 1908 — Salce, Belluno
Wednesday. 16th [September 1908]. Soon after 10 I drove away from Villa Eden & took the 11.10 train which arrived at Venice at 2.30. Very glad to return home after a long absence & many wanderings. Found pleasant hot weather. The cook Mrs Sear arrived from London last evening having brought with her Florence Street my London housemaid who had begged to be allowed to come & see Venice paying her own journey. I could not refuse her such an intelligent request & so she has come for 3 weeks.
