30 September 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 30th [September 1908]. A Blue Cross Committee meeting was held here at 11 a.m. Mme Pezzè, & I only being present. Sra Pezzè had a complaint of one of the Blue Cross men & we decided to dismiss him. Directly after lunch the Canon & I had to go off to the Sailor’s Institute for a Committee meeting there—present Mr Horatio Brown, Mr Montalba & Mr Zuccato besides us two– Many things to be discussed the money, Mr Royon’s plea for higher pay &c. We did not leave till 4 when I took Mr Brown & Montalba in gondola to their own houses in the Zattere. Went in to see the Misses Montalba & took tea with them. From there to our church where the Canon wanted to fetch documents– He went home in the gondola. I went on foot. Dined at 7.30 & then went back to the Institute where there was the usual weekly concert & some of the men sang & played well.
