12 October 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 12th [October 1908]. We had had a great morning at Piccoli the old furniture shop next my house—the Connaughts being anxious to buy old furniture for fitting up the great Ballroom in the Palace at Malta. We remained there till lunch– Horatio Brown accompanied us & remained also to lunch– Olga Mocenigo née Windischgrätz also came to lunch as the Dss wanted to renew acquaintance with her cousin. Afterwards I took the Connaughts in my gondola for a row to SS. Zanipolo & round outside the Fondta Nuove—& then dropped them at Palazzo Barbaro to pay a visit to Mrs Hunter who is living there– We went home to tea. Miss Muriel Wilson dined with us & went out in gondola in the eveng with the Connaughts. Myles & I went for a bit, but I am afraid of the damp air for my rheumatism & did not stay long.
