17 October 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 17th [October 1908]. Bucham & Co sent out one of the firm to see about the Venice & Murano business a Mr Danby & he came to interview me this morning– I sent for Sr Malagola to talk about the picture. He did his best to persuade me it was not so bad—but still I can’t get over it. I took Mme Malagola out with me in gondola & we went to the Cos. Hos. & thence to Piazza & took a walk. I went to dine with old Lady Pirbright at the Grand Hotel & there met Sir Luke Fildes who is living here with his wife & daughters for a little while. We dined upstairs in the big sitting room– “McGinn” the secy also was there—“a newspaper man” as Lady P. called him. | |
