Friday. 16th [October 1908]. I remained in bed all the morning to have a long rest. A sad thing happened– The Picture of St Jerome by Savoldo fell from the wall & the glass over it smashed. I was terribly upset. After all the pride I have in the pictures & the care I have taken! that such a thing should happen! | |
