30 March 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 30th [March 1909]. There was a Committee held at the Sailor’s Inst: at 10 to wh I went– At 4 I went to Mara Sacripante’s party & took Oscar with me to introduce him to Venetian society, & he rather enjoyed himself. We got back home abt 7. Marsa S. is a Russian lady married to an Italian & their daughter has married a naval man & lives with them. There was dancing. I received as usual & not very many people came. At 10 Mme Waddington & Marquesa de Talleyrand arrived fm Rome to stay with me—but went at once to their rooms. The latter is an American née Curtis & divorced her husband. I had not known here before but she is a friend of Mme Waddington & they are travelling together so I invited her.
