Monday. 17th [May 1909]. I took Da Laura for a quiet row outside the Arsenal walls—a lovely hot day—almost too hot for the time of year. It was a very pleasant hour spent with the charming old lady talking quietly as the gondola carried us round the old Arsenal walls with its memories of Venetian historical glory. | |
