Friday. 21st [May 1909]. Lord Stanmore & Nevil Gordon left me today & went to Porto Fino where they have hired a house. A message came from the R. yacht to say that if I would be ready the Q. & Emp. would come for me & Violet directly after lunch to go to some of the antiquity shops. We waited all the afternoon with our things on ready—but no one came & at last we gave it up & went off to the Piazza where we had tea at Florian’s. | |
