24 May 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 24th May [1909]. The Queen left in the morning for England & waved a farewell to us as she went by. Violet & I went to lunch on board the “Destroyer Albatross” & met Mr Wrottesley one of the officers on the “Albert & Victoria.” Mr Prichard entertained us. I had never been on board such a ship before & was amused at the smallness of its the narrow stairs to go down to the tiny cabins &c. In the eveng there 2 gentlemen dined with us & Mr Prichard kindly took charge of a chair to carry to Malta wh I want to send as a present to Myles Ponsonby. The Royal Yacht & the Albatross leave tomorrow at daybreak.
