14 June 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 14th [June 1909]. Lunched with Angela Reinelt at Hotel Victoria & from thence went to see Dr Giordano on this question of the Dr at our hospital. He strongly advised me to prevent Dr Werner operating any more. He said he had already amputated the leg of an Italian in our hospital quite wrongly & it would be a gain if he brought us no more of his patients—besides he adheres to his agreement with himself abt being the only operator there. I went on to the Hospital to tell this to the matron & then to the Eden’s garden (just opposite) to tell Mr Eden & put the matter in his hands as Chairman of the Committee & he kindly undertook to see to it.
