15 June 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 15th [June 1909]. I took Angela Reinelt at 11 o’cl in my gondola to the Exhibition in the Public Gardens & we went all over it again as she has to buy something from it for the Public Gallery at Trieste. I was more than ever horrified at the badness of the painting the indecency of the subjects & the want of imagination exemplified at this show. This quite prevented one appreciating the few good things exhibited. We lunched afterwards at the restaurant in the open air near the Exn buildings—& returned home abt 3 o’clock. A good many people came in the evening amongst them the Barrère party.
