16 June 1909 — Mezzaratta, Bologna
Wednesday. 16th [June 1909]. I left for Bologna at 10 a.m. train to stay with Da Laura Minghetti at her charming villa Mezzaratta. I got there at 2. She has staying with her Prof: Faccioli & her niece Baroness Acton née Cellamare, a young woman who takes great interest in the management of her property & is attending the congress on Forestry now being held at Bologna & accompanies the party on long expeditions to visit forests in the country. She is young & pleasant looking. Da Laura & I played our double patience wh I taught her when last I was here & in which she delights. She is perturbed in her mind as to the result of the struggle going on in the German Parliament in which if her son in law Bülow is beaten he will resign & leave public life for ever. He is very shaky it seems.
