8 October 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 8th [October 1909]. Mr Montalba came in the morning on Hospital accounts. Mr & Mrs Hellman came to see me directly after lunch, having come back from Milan to see after their sisters. I took them off in gondola to the Edens garden to arrange about fresh milk being sent to them—& then took them the gondola to take out the old Tracys for an airing while I went in to rest. The Hellmans dined with us & brought young Cadwallada Corse, the nephew with them—a nice fat well behaved boy of 12 with funny old fashioned manners. We initiated him in the game of puzzles.
