11 October 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 11th [October 1909]. I was very tired this morning & thought I would not get up early but suddenly had to jump up & rush into my garments as Mr Montalba had come again about accounts—before he left Clara & Hilda his 2 sisters came & sat chatting. Miss Agnes Everett left by 2 o’cl train for Grasse. At 3 I went out in gondola with Miss Everett & Baker & left them at Mrs Curtis, & they went on in the gondola– After having tea with Mrs Curtis I walked on to the Piazza & stopped at Hotel Europe to see old Mr & Mrs Merrick of Pa—then on to S.S. Amuele to see the Hellmans & hear of the sick sisters & found them going on pretty well. The Hellmans were at home & had made up their minds not to leave for Milan today—as they had no rooms I invited them to come to sleep here & to bring the small boy with them. This they did arriving about 10 p.m. The elder Miss Everett left by the evening train for Rome.
