3 January 1910 — Bessborough, Fiddown, County Kilkenny
Monday. 3rd [January 1910]. The men breakfasted at 9 in order to go off to shoot woodcock—except Bertie who breakfasted with us women & went off at 10 to London. I typed all the morning. Blanche went out riding. After luncheon she & I took a walk together. It was a lovely day. The sky was all colours from blue to pale green—& light clouds floated about– It was more like April than Jany. We walked thro’ the Park to the village where Blanche visited some of the sick & distributed garments to some children. There was a gorgeous sunset. The shooting party came in abt 5 just as we returned having shot 25 woodcock & enjoyed the lovely day. I typed again till dinner time—& am getting on with the task assigned to me—wh is to finish copying out that portion of my mothers journal of 1885 wh Lane is going to publish & wh Monty had begun. I have about 80 more pages to do.
