1 March 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 1st March [1910]. The weather all this week was lovely—the sun glorious—but I could not shake off the cold I had caught in London & had to keep my bed several days– One day I was out with Nela & bethought me of inquiring at Hotel Victoria where Bss Reinelt was expected– I found she was already there so I went up to see her. She said she knew I had arrived but she had been told I wanted to be meagusta! It was a little bit of spite of some lady who wishes to keep up apart. How funny these petiteville ways are to be sure.
