9 April 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 9th [April 1910]. Afternoon Wyndhams went on expedition to Torcello under bad circumstances as heavy rain came on. Sir Frank Lascelles & his daughter in law, Lady Sybil called & I begged them to return to dine which was a bold thing to do as I am still without a cook—& the Italian girl I have is feeble in her art. However they were pleased to come & I am not too much disgraced. In the eveng Sr Arbib came in & Sir Foster Cunliffe & Mr Spedding friends of the Wyndhams dropped in on their way from the station having just arrived from Florence.
