23 May 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 23rd [May 1910]. I breakfasted in bed at 7 a.m. & rested an hour. At 11 Mr Montalba came & gave me over his bank book & accounts to send to Sir John Craggs to be audited for the Hospital. Lady Helen Vincent came at 3 to bid me good bye as she leaves tomorrow for London. The Times wh came today gave the accounts of King Edwards burial at Windsor. In the same paper there is a notice that the late King had caused a Memorial window to be placed in the Church at Sandringham in memory of Montague Guest “his old friend” a thing which touches me very much. Went at 3.30 with Helen Johnson to see Angela Reinelt & found there a great talk & much excitement about the murder of Stucky. From there we walked to the Piazza where I left Helen & walked home by 5 to received Lady Ancaster & her daughter Lady Margaret Rutherford who came to stay with me. After giving them tea I took them out in gondola & showed them the Piazza & Bridge of Sighs & then home for dinner.
