26 May 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 26th [May 1910]. Today being the day of the “Corpus Domini” there was the usual procession at St Marks which comes out of the Porta della Carta & going round the outside of the Church returns into it in the Piazza dei Leoncini. It is no longer allowed to go out any further for fear of disturbances. Betty & Elizabeth went off to see it before breakfast. We all went off to Murano in the afternoon to see the procession which then goes round the town & is very picturesque. The people also are devout there & when the Host is elevated from the center of one of the bridges all went down on their knees.
