4 June 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. [4th June 1910]. The Benomars went off to lunch at the Lido at the invitation of the Canevaros. I excused myself on account of the heat & having a little leisure once more I brought out my wax & tools & began again to work at the little figure of an angel which I had long left unfinished. This is very resting to my soul after the cares of receiving & amusing friends staying with me. The Benomars returned before tea & found Prince Clary sitting with me, he having come to pay me a visit to invite me to tea with the Princess tomorrow. After tea I took the Benomars & Helen Johnson for a long row round the Canareggio & SS. Zanipolo to the Piazza & then home.
