13 June 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 13th [June 1910]. A heavy thunderstorm in the night brought us a very welcome wet day & cooled the air. I spent the whole day correcting proof of my mother’s journal (Ceramic) which is being published by Lane. A laborious task as the the names of places & things on the continent one has to consult guide books &c. We out in gondola after tea when it cleared—over to the hospital & carried off Miss Chaffey, the matron for a float in the lagunes—coming back walked from S. Moisé—looked in at Angela Reinelt & so home arriving late for dinner & found Ola & Mr Whitaker waiting for me. Malagola called while we were dining for a short visit. Had a note from Miss Knollys to say she had given my letter to the Queen—& that they are all very miserable at Court.
