27 June 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 27th [June 1910]. Nothing particular to record today. In the evening went over to the Hospital to be present at our al fresco party given by the matron to residents & visitors. The garden was lighted up & we sat there in the semi darkness listening to music wh came from the terrace above. When I went up stairs to thank the performer on the ’cello I found it was young Sgr Crepax who had played in the trios performed at my house. If appears that Miss Chaffey had heard him one night playing in a gondola & thinking he was a poor boy whom she might reward with 5 lire asked him to come & play to the invalids which he consented to do. He plays beautifully & brought a lady to accompany him.
