26 June 1910 — Mezzaratta, Bologna
Sunday. 26th [June 1910]. We sat out on the terrace most of the day– It was hot & very windy. Our life here was—tea in ones own room at 8 A.M. Reading & writing or sitting out. Luncheon at 12.30. Sit the terrace talking & working till at 2.30 the post came bringing newspapers. Then we retire to our rooms till 4—after wh we reassemble on the terrace & about 6.30 Da Laura & I would go arm & arm round the little garden. She trimming her roses—pulling out the “escalongaia” weed—and looking over her trees wh are entirely of her own planting & are now of a good size. At 5.30 I took leave of my dear hostess & the Signor Faccioli & drove to the station & left by 6.30 train for Venice wh I reached at 9.30. It was a very cool evening & Ola says there has been quite a hurricane blowing yesterday & today.
