6 July 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday 6th [July 1910]. I finished correcting a large batch of Ceramic Journals and sent them off by post to Mr Lane. Had a visit from Mr                whom I had known 3 years ago he having brought me a letter of introduction from Miss Thornton. He said he was travelling home from Egypt with Sir Elden & Lady Gorst & asked if they might come in the afternoon to see the pictures wh I gladly agreed to. They came accordingly after 4 & I showed them round. He is a small man rather lame & not very young. She is young & pretty with pleasant manners. They arrived this morning by Austrian Lloyd from Egypt. As they were leaving here again by 5.30 train for England they had just time to look thro’ the house & snatch a hasty cup of tea & then I sent them to the station in my gondola. Went out in gondola with Ola to the hospital & to see the Eden’s in their garden. Weather coldish & windy. The Malagola family Père, mère et fils dined with us & Ola went out afterwards in gondola with mère. The men sat awhile with me.
