21 August 1910 — Villa Taverna, Torno
Sunday. 21st [August 1910]. In the afternoon I went on the lake with Css Taverna & Pss Venosa in their motor boat. We went along for about an hour till we reached a place opposite Cadenabbia & landed at a little restaurant under the Villa Besana where we got an excellent “merenda”—tea, panettone &c &c. It is a pretty little nook—only just place for a little chalet—& a platform to hold 4 or 5 little tables. It is kept by the concierge of the Villa—a very civil man. We sat there some time & then got into the boat & went across into Cadenabbia & the Villa Carletta & followed that coast for some time. It is so many years since I had been on the lake I had forgotten how beautiful it is.
