13 September 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 13th [September 1910]. In the morning I had a visit from Mr & Mrs Randall Morgan of Philadelphia a handsome young woman & a nice looking elderly man. She a niece of old Mrs Griscom. In the afternoon a Miss Grigsby an American, a friend of the Edens & Mrs Cornwallis West (Lady R. Churchill as was) also a clergyman a friend of Canon Raggs whose name I have forgotten who said he had been made a Bishop somewhere in Uganda way & was now on his way to his post. I went out on foot to the Piazza & returned in gondola just before dinner—& found the Duke of Bronte had called & Mr Spender. Late in the evening Mara Cappelli came in having been dining on the Lido. It was very hot & scirocco tonight.
