20 September 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 20th [September 1910]. Mr Montalba came again in the morning to do the accounts & I arranged to fetch him in the afternoon to go with me over to the Hospital to confront an irate Italian who vowed that we had no right to remove a wall between his property & ours. He talked & blustered a lot & we concluded nothing at all & returned to have tea with the Montalba sisters where I was joined by Mrs Ady. It came on to pour with rain whilst we were there so we had to come straight home after tea. This is a curiously wet year—we seldom have a whole sunshiny day now. Lady Radnor dined with us & I had the usual weekly reception to wh Pss. Polignac, Mrs G. Cornwallis West, Miss Grigsby, Mlle Dussau, the Curtis’, Miss Muriel Wilson & many passing travellers came.
