11 December 1910 — Milan
Sunday. 11th [December 1910]. Such a pouring wet day! At 10 I went to sit with Angela chatting till we lunched in her rooms. Afterwards Mme Mylius came to call. The nice little lady, I had met at Salsomaggiore & then I went off in a cab to 2 Foro Bonaparte to see Contessa Jeanette Dal Verone (also a Salsomaggiore friend) who received me with open arms, kissed me, called me a “nice woman” told me I was charming & was very amusing. We talked books, ghosts, dress, people, places & every kind of thing. She showed me her rooms which are charming & look upon a large garden. She gave me tea at wh were also served merengues & cream in a silver basket. Her nephew came in, a pleasant man, à Quinty I think. I returned to Angela at 6 & we sat talking till dinner time. We dined in the restaurant below.
