12 December 1910 — Milan
Monday. 12th [December 1910]. Joined Angela at 10 & more gossip till lunch wh we had in her room. At 3 Css Dal Verone sent her carriage to fetch me to her house & we had a long afternoon together as Angela was engaged with her Dr Giordano who had come from Venice on purpose for a medical visit. At 6 Css Dal V’s carriage took me back to the hotel to rejoin Angela. She had a visit from a Sigra Bocconi—a Spanish lady Villahermosa born who had married a rich man whose father had made a huge fortunati by the big shops he instituted in all the big towns of Italy. She is very nice looking & smart having only yesterday returned from Paris with the last modes. She wore an enormous plain stiff black velvet hat. A black velvet very narrow skirt & a jacket of same over a white front with a lace jabot cut lowish at the neck. She was very agreeable– We dined in the restaurant & afterwards joined the Bocconi’s for coffee in the hall where we sat till bed time.
