22 December 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 22nd [December 1910]. After lunch Judge Castellani brought his mother & sister to pay me a visit & I received them in the Belvedere where it was warm from the bright sunshine. The old lady was very pleased to walk round this house & admire the things the furniture & the pictures & her son who comes here nearly every Tuesday eveng had great pleasure in explaining every thing to her. He is devoted to his mother with whom he lives & is therefore a good man. In the evening Sra Malagola & her son Guido came in & sat with me for an hour. It is 2 months since Malagola died. His widow will have a pension of 100 lire a month. I fear she has little else to count on. Guido hopes to make money by photographic portraits—for wh he has a special talent.
