26 January 1911 — Cairo | |
Thursday. 26th [January 1911]. Eda’s cousin Lord Edward Cecil came to lunch with us & afterwards took us up to see the Citadel & the Big Mosque there which I admire greatly & whence the view is lovely. Then he took us into the Bazaar to the shop of Joseph Cohen where we took Persian tea & saw priceless carpets. Mr Cohen condescended to shake hands with us & then turned us over to his headman. We bought nothing. | |
