15 February 1911 — Khartoum | |
Wednesday. 15th [February 1911]. Took a walk on the Embankment with Eda—sat on a bench & watched the women going down to take water from the Nile & bring up their great tins poised on their heads. It was blowing a fresh breeze & it was interesting to see how they took off their great blue cotton garments & wind it deftly round their bodies & heads—not an easy thing to manage in the winds. | |
