2 April 1911 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 2nd [April 1911]. To morning service at 10.30 with Eda. Mr Price preached about our late Bishop. I stayed for the 2nd service so did not come out of church till after 12. I had promised to go to see Angela as usual “après la messe” so I ran on foot to the Hotel Victoria but she was already at luncheon so I went home by the Rialto. Went to church at 3.30 for a funeral service in memory of our Bishop. The funeral march was played wh is always very upsetting. From there went with Mme Wiel & Mrs Eden to a meeting of the society “conteo l’Accatonaggio” which was very tiring as no windows were opened. Home at 6. Eda came home at 7 having been to see Mr Eden. We dined at 7 with the intention of going to the service at the Sailor’s Institute at 8. Baker went there on foot to enquire whether there was to be a service & telephoned to our relief that there was none—so we remained quietly & went early to bed. It is tiring scirocco weather.
