5 December 1911 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 5th [December 1911]. Nela left us by the early train to return to England. She travelled home with Miss Jessie Allen, who has been staying with Mrs Curtis. In the evening I had only 3 people—Mr & Mrs Price & Miss Simonson—the latter a strange little lady who has a brother known as an art critic– After some talk with her I found out she takes drugs for sleeping which accounts for her peculiar ways—but she is interested in many things & is intelligent. It being a wet night kept everyone else at home.
