17 January 1912 — Luxor | |
Wednesday. 17th [January 1912]. It was a heavy grey cloudy day—quite upset me & gave me fever & I had to take quinine. After lunch we went to Winter Palace Hotel to meet Mr Whymper & to see his pictures. He showed them off to us & I asked to buy a drawing of Cairo wh cost £12– When we had settled it we went up on to the terrace of the Winter P. Hotel & I gave him & Mr Trefusis tea there– After taking a walk we returned to this hotel. Mr Whymper paints birds very well in water colour & had also other subjects well done. | |
