10 February 1912 — Cairo
Saturday. 10th [February 1912]. Walked round to the Hotel Semiramis with Eda before lunch to call on Lady Oppenheimer whom we found in. She was very happy because her son has received new honors from our F.O. & much praise. It is pleasant to see any one so pleased. Lord Colum Stewart drove us over to Mena House in his motor & we lunched with Sir Fred Milner & his boy– After lunch we sat & chatted on the terrace outside the door until at 3.30 we returned to Cairo. It is very impressive to sit so close to the Gt Pyramid. We had tea in the loggia here. In the evening we played bridge again with Capt. McMurdo in Lord Colum’s place & it went better than last night as the Capt. helped me through.
