14 May 1912 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 14th [May 1912]. Mr Montalba came to do Hospital accts with me wh took up a good deal of time. The weather very hot & oppressive. In afternoon took, Helen, Matt & Nela over to the Eden’s garden. I was specially invited to make the acquaintance of Mme de la Bourne & her son the new proprietors of Ca’ Dario—a very pleasant French lady. I had rather a large reception in the evening. A good many Italians came & passing English travellers. The Italians played bridge wh is a great delight to them altho’ I did not allow them to smoke at the same time as they played.
