16 May 1912 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 16th [May 1912]. Ascension Day. Nela & I went to morning service & walked home. Found the great heat trying. Nela went out with Sigra Malagola. Matt went with the Balbis. I took Princess T & T over to the Eden’s garden & had tea there. Met Sig. & Sigra Cortina there. He is one of the managers of the Venetian Bead Co & a very nice clever man. I took the Pss & Cortinas over to see the International Hospital with which they were much pleased. Italians have no notion what a cheerful little hospital can be made & are astonished at ours. Nela & Matt took the Pss out to the Piazza after dinner to see the Illuminations & I retired early to bed. | |
