20 June 1912 — Chateau Le Muette, Paris
Thursday. 20th [June 1912]. I went out at 11 with Sophy in her victoria & she drove me into town that I might go to try on my dress at the dressmakers. We returned to lunch at 12.30. Afterwards I went into the garden where I waited while Sophy went to call on her step daughter in law. Then at 2 we drove out again to town & paid a visit to Mme de Cornet a lady who having broken her hip cannot go out & therefore receives her friends every day between 2 & 5. She has therefore a regular kind of salon & is very agreeable & lively. Several people came in & mutual presentations took place—the last was to a Duchesse de Mirepoix—very stout & peculiar looking– I afterwards heard she has been mad & even shut up. On leaving Mme de C. we went shopping & returned at 4 to La Muette to tea. I sat & read & worked the last of the afternoon. At dinner there was a Mme de Meaux a very charming old lady who is a great friend here.
