30 June 1912 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 30th [June 1912]. After morning service I went to see Angela Reinelt & walked home to luncheon. There was a great Regatta in the afternoon as in old times—the houses were decorated, every boat was out & the canal was lined with them on each side. Mr Bond, Miss Rowe (a lady who gives lessons) & Cav. S. Arbib & his daughter Marcella came to see the regatta from here. I dined at 7.15 & went afterwards with Baker to the service at the Sailor’s Institute. The new Manager Mr Swan & his wife welcomed us & after service took me upstairs to see their rooms & declared everything here so “beautiful.” It is nice to see people so appreciative. Coming away I brought Mr & Mrs Price with me & rowed up the Grand Canal in the cool of the night wh was very enjoyable—after leaving them at their lodgings at San Mocenigo I came home.
