15 July 1912 — Mezzaratta, Bologna
Monday. 15th [July 1912]. Found Da Laura sitting in the garden before 8 a.m. Took leave of her at 9 & with the Fraticello went down to the station & left Bologna for Venice at 10.15. Reached Venice at 1.30. The German Consul of last evening travelled with me & went on to Budapest. After lunch I read my letters & unpacked & at 4 went off to the Hospital calling en route on the Montalbas. I found they are leaving tomorrow for the country & so took leave of them. Met Mr Arbib also at their door & took him with me across the Giudecca Canal to the Hospital where he made notes of a cottage close by which I would like to buy & then he left me. I went to the Eden’s garden & found that they are also leaving for Salce tomorrow at 5 a.m. I took leave of them. Returned home to dine.
