18 August 1912 — Bessborough, Fiddown, County Kilkenny
Sunday. 18th [August 1912]. To church morning & evening services. The weather always showery & hardly ever see the sun. Blanche & I drive out sometimes in her little pony trap—sometimes in the motor. We went one day into Waterford again & I bought a pretty little carved stone French work I think—a Venus & 2 cupids in low relief– There was nothing else tempting in the antiquity shop– But the weather was such that we could not do very much outing. Most evenings before dinner Blanche & I walked in the garden which is spite of the dreadfully wet summer are in masses & we filled up the vases in our bedrooms.
