7 September 1912 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 7th [September 1912]. Breakfasted all together at 9. Wrote letters. Went out walking with Nela to shop & buy presents to take to friends abroad. Connie came to lunch– Rested being tired & headachy. Connie went off to tea with Pss Stephanie. Wylds & Nela also went out for the afternoon. We dined at 7 & went off directly afterwards to the Majesty’s Theatre to see the new piece “Drake” which is a fine spectacular thing & ought to stir our patriotism. Queen Elizabeth was fairly well done by Miss Phyllis Ferry. In the 1st act she was nervous & exaggerated the Queen in a passion but was dignified as the play went on. I joined the D. & Dss of Somerset in his box. Princess Stephanie & Count Lonyay was their guests. The rest of my party was in the stalls where they had a better view of the stage than we had. Charlie took me to the box & fetched me away & we walked home to Savile Row together & all had tea in the library. Connie had gone to her home when I got there.
