8 March 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton | |
Saturday. 8th [March 1862]. Breakfast late. Williams went to town to try and find out what further news there were—he found Merthyr in town having just arrived from Uff: He & Ferdinand started by the mail train for Königsberg. Merthyr sent me a very pretty set of fleur de lys for collar and sleeves wh he had brought me from Paris, also a photograph in a frame from Mrs Bertie– Connie took Mrs Cameron for a drive in the poney carriage—they went to Little Holland House—to Lady Somers’s & Mrs Normans. The Pigous came to call– It was so mild that I sat out in the arbour until 6 oclock—I picked my first violets this year– Went as usual to give the Camerons their lessons– Wrote to Mrs Layard & Mr Clark. Played backgammon with Ecca– | |
