9 March 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Sunday. 9th [March 1862]. Breakfast at ten– The children came in to get their presents from Merthyr before I was up. Went to Putney church—when we got as far as Clipsons we took a fly and had one for coming home. Saw Lord Jermyn and his bride at church—she was looking very pretty– Ecca & Con went to Richd in afternoon. I went over to see Mrs Cameron; saw Mrs C. & Ewen– Dinner alone with Blanche & Capt. Schr– They returned from Rd at 10½ P.M. Rd had been up and telegraphed to Ivor– He did so at 3 oclock and the answer got to Richd by 7.20. The answer was that he had taken it mild and the mother had got as far as Berlin. This news has made me very happy and I feel very thankful to God Almighty. The text was St John 1. 29 v.
