15 March 1862 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Saturday. 15th [March 1862]. Breakfast late past 10. Wrote letters and one to Ivory. Mrs Norman & her little girl came to luncheon—lunch at 2, after luncheon Kate, baby & Connie went over to Richd. Mrs Nor: staid till 4½. Little Char: is a dear little thing with the most lovely dark large eyes– Julia herself looking very well– Maria came back with Con: The doctor would not allow Kate to return so Swanstone went back immediately with Maria– I took Ria to see Julia next door & saw Mr Cameron. Mr N. was there but I did not see him– I also went to see Bonnie before luncheon– Played backgammon with Ecca and read Old Curiosity Shop—bed at 10½. Had a note from Mr Rate–
