5 July 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Saturday. 5th [July 1862]. Was called at about 8½ and got down before all had finished. I had rather a bad sore throat but it was not very bad– Ivor came down very late and then at about 11 we went up together to do some printing till luncheon. After luncheon I was so tired that I laid down on my bed and slept till 3– I went down into the hall and found rather a fuss between Con: & Temmy– I wrote to Car in Luff’s room & then we had some tea. Temmy told Margaret that she was to leave– After tea we went out on the terrace for a little time & Ivor also came—but it was so showery that we could not stay long—& after talking a good time in the hall to Ecca we found it was dinner time– Blan: & Con: went to the singing practise at the Church—Merthyr went off to town this afternoon to return Monday– After dinner Montie & Ivor sang and when I went to bed at 11 I left Ivory whistling & the M. playing the “Barbieré”–
