6 July 1862 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Sunday. 6th [July 1862]. Got up very late and only had time to get a mouthful of breakfast and go off to Church– Mr Ponsonby officiated– There was no sermon but Sacrament– Went to Church in afternoon. Ivor & Montie went both times– Mr Daniel preached & did the whole service. After church we all walked up the village together as far as Luff’s farm. We left Ecca there & then went on to the keepers to see the quails. I & Montie walked together & Connie and Blan: with Ivory. I went with M to the kitchen garden and eat raspberries we saw Baker & spoke to him– We met Mary Pyne going down the village with her little brothers– I went back with M. & Montie went on alone– I had some tea with Mrs Pyne. It began to rain hard just as we were comg home but Mrs P. lent us some wraps & we did not get wet– I talked to Ivor in the eveng & was obliged to rush up out of my room being very sick after my whooping cough—at 10½–
